Larry Barnes began his career with the United States Postal Service (USPS) as a Distribution Clerk. Due to his exceptional performance and leadership abilities, he began to move through the ranks and into management. In the years that followed, he served in many postal positions. Because of his extraordinary service. in those positions, he was appointed Postmaster of Oakland, California on 12-23-95.
As Postmaster, he worked tirelessly not only to improve USPS functions for individual customers and employees, but also to build a stronger community. As a regular speaker at neighborhood meetings, he always made the effort to reach out to Oakland residents, and to be available to hear their ideas and concerns.
Mr. Barnes, aka Deacon Barnes, believes that all citizens should invest in the community in which they reside. I serve as a Mediator in the Small Claims Division, Solano County Superior Court, Former Commissioner, Juvenile Justice Commission, Solano County, Arbitrator, Juvenile Community Accountability Program, Solano County, and Vice President, Dawson Ridge Homeowners Association, Vallejo, CA.
John “Max” Trujillo III was born and raised in Fairfield, California. Max received two Associate’s Degrees from Solano Community College and then transferred to Texas. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in African American Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso. From there, Max came home to the Bay Area to pursue his Master’s Degree from San Francisco State. Max received his Master’s Degree in Ethnic Studies focusing on Comparative Ethnic Studies researching Third Worldism between both the Brown Berets and Black Panther Party in the Bay Area and East L.A. Max has worked in various higher education roles, serving as a Program Coordinator for programs such as Upward Bound, EOPS and First Year Experience (FYE).
Currently, Max serves as a full time Tenure Track Faculty member in the Department of Ethnic Studies and Social Justice Studies at Los Medanos College. He serves as the Chapter Historian for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Kappa Omicron Lambda chapter seated in Vallejo, CA. Lastly, he runs a college readiness program for young men called Alpha Academy which promote access to higher education, boosting self-esteem and creating awareness. Within this program the Alpha Academy Committee members work with 6th-12th grade students in the larger Bay Area all the way to Georgia since its creation in 2020.
Professor Ronald Page II has been teaching Mathematics at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) since 2012. He is the first and only African American Full-Time Tenured Math Faculty member in the history of the college’s existence which was established in 1935. Page has ventured down a winding road to teaching after completing his K-12 education in Vallejo, CA and going on to complete a Bachelor’s of Arts in Applied Math with a minor in African American Studies at UC Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Page conducted undergraduate research in math on campus, UC San Diego, Lawrence Berkeley and Lawrence Livermore National Labs contributing to scientific articles as well as presenting his work at conferences nationwide. Shortly after the passing of his father, Page began and completed a Master’s of Science in Applied Math at CSU EastBay where Page began to hone in on his love for teaching young and not so young adults.
At CCSF Page has contributed to the department not only by teaching courses from arithmetic through Calculus and Statistics, but also by taking on leadership roles within his department and campus wide. Most recently Page has contributed to curriculum development, tutor training, and an Academic Senate Executive Council Member while leading STEM Mindset workshops through the Diversity by Doing Program for Community College students at Fogarty Innovation. Page has served on the ELITE Board of Directors since 2019 expects to continue to help students navigate through the language and culture of Mathematics for many years to come.
Pastor Danny Jefferson is the Senior Pastor of Rehoboth World Outreach Center in Vallejo, CA. He is blessed with the distinct honor of succeeding his father, Superintendent Perless Jefferson, Sr. who is the Founder of Rehoboth Church, and served as Pastor for 50 years. Under Pastor Jefferson’s pastoral leadership, Rehoboth has experienced tremendous growth. Pastor Jefferson’s passion is Transformation – transforming individual lives and transforming our cities and communities. Pastor Jefferson matriculated through Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA and Sacramento Theological Seminary, earning a bachelor’s degree in education.
Pastor Jefferson is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Ethical Leadership at Epic Graduate School in Sacramento, CA. Pastor Jefferson has been involved with community activism for many years. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he serves as President of Kappa Omicron Lambda Chapter. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for ELITE Public Charter Schools. Pastor Jefferson has served in many leadership capacities such as past President of the Community Democratic Club of Solano County which is one of Solano County’s largest clubs and Vice President of the local Branch of the NAACP.
In 2007, he founded Vallejo Faith Organization (VFO). VFO has made significant impact on the City of Vallejo in the areas of City Government, Vallejo Schools, and the Marketplace, advancing the cause of Jesus Christ through city transformation. Pastor Jefferson serves Northern California First Jurisdiction Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Albert Galbraith, Prelate, as Jurisdictional Secretary and District Superintendent of the Holy Ghost District.
Pastor Jefferson has received numerous awards and recognition for his pastoral leadership and community activism from organizations such as, California State Assembly, University of California at Davis, Solano County Board of Education, Solano County Fighting Back Partnership, The City of Vallejo, and Vallejo Unified School District. He celebrates his partner in ministry and life, Lady Camille Jefferson; and, they are the proud parents of three children.
Dr. Juanita Reynolds is a lifelong educator and learner. She most recently served as the Chief Strategic Partnership Officer for Education Farm and the PROPEL initiative. Dr. Reynolds has worked in education for over 30 years in various capacities and is considered an expert in organizational as well as school turnaround. In addition to working to develop partnerships with university and corporate partners, she has served as a university faculty member, mentored and coached leaders, served as a school district office administrator, a site administrator for elementary, middle and high school, as well as teacher. Prior to her role at Ed Farm she was Co-Founder and Vice President at Honors Pathway and Director of Principal Induction for New Leaders for New Schools.
In 2015 Dr. Reynolds received the Capital City Legends Award for her visionary, transformational leadership and outstanding service and commitment to education. She is a Trustee for Elite Public Schools. Dr. Reynolds, attended Howard University and CSU Hayward earning her Bachelor’s degree, she also holds two Master’s degrees from Mills College, Teaching and Administrative Services credentials, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She is married to her life partner of over 30 years, Melvin Reynolds and has two incredible children, Jasmine and Stephan Reynolds.
Anthony Durham currently works as a Territory Sales Manager for Standard Motor Products. He has over 40 years of experience in the Automotive Aftermarket industry. Over that time, he has held many Automotive Management and Sales positions from Retail Sales Associate to District Sales Manager. He currently holds industry recognized Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications as an Automotive Parts Specialist and Automotive Service Consultant.
Born and raised in the Richmond/El Cerrito area, he attended John F. Kennedy High School, UC Berkeley and Contra Costa College. Fueled by the careers of my mother and aunt as educators, along with the challenges he faced as a single parent fighting for his daughter’s school choice, he developed a passion for children’s education, parent involvement and parent’s choice of school for their children. To begin addressing this calling, in 2018, he founded Parents of the Pack (POP), the parent organization at Summit Tamalpais School in Richmond, California. I currently serve as the President Emeritus of POP.
He is also a member and Parent Leader of the Contra Costa County Charter Coalition (5C). 5C is acommunity of charter schools united to uplift the voice of parents and their right to make decisions as to where their children receive their education. He has been a part of 5C since its beginning in 2022. To help keep myself spiritually grounded, he is a devoted member of St. Peter C.M.E. Church in El Cerrito, where he serves as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Vice President of Ministry to men.
